One Divine Morning

An amazing story from evangelism one morning in Busia Region, West Kenya

“This morning I was with my team of two fellow students, Jonah and Hjørdis, and our Kenyan translator, Joseph. We were walking the red dirt street going from business to business greeting the people sitting outside their door or bending over their work. We would stop and chat with anyone we saw, asking for a few minutes of their time to share with them a message of good news.

One young man agreed to listen for a minute so we stepped inside his music and movie store and started talking with him. We learned-through translation- that James is around 21 years old and has never heard the gospel before. It was such a joy to share with him the testimony of Jesus’ incredible sacrifice for each of us. Jonah asked James if he wanted to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior and James agreed. He prayed after Jonah the prayer of salvation. He had many questions now that he accepted Jesus, like how to live a pure life, stand up to temptation, and how to trust God for provision. We were able to point him to the assurance in the scriptures with all our answers. He even confessed that he used to be catholic but he never felt like that was right and he had stopped going to church anymore.

We have such a gracious God to meet us in our need for truth, like he did for James! We were so pleased to see our new brother in Christ, James, at the New Believers Discipleship class in church that weekend.”
